On Originals and Copies

Some works in this shop are mass-produced. Others are hand-made, hand-scanned, reworked, corrected, re-scanned, colour-adjusted — sometimes scanned again. With each added stage, the idea of the “original” becomes more unstable, more abstract.

Where, exactly, does an original end and a copy begin?

And more importantly, why does that classification matter?

Each reproduction is unique, but with an artist's intervention the scope of originality widens.
